The school never had a chance, since the early 90's the school has lost a lot of money. The Dean of student at the time I attended this school inform me that in 1994 the school was in the hole $1.4 million for that fiscal year. In the late Eighties the school started to have a reputation for sending your trouble teen boys who were no longer admited to the L.A. Unified School District. Thats how my chapter at Daniel Murphy Started, the LAUSD was finally tired of my antics, they advice my parents that It would be wise to invest the extra money to send me to a private institution, where the classroom were'nt over crowded and the proffesor had more time to deal with me. So dont't cry for Daniel Murphy its fate was sealed long before the Bishop announce the school closure.

I can't believe my alma mater closed down. I am a member of the class of 1991. Murphy was a very memorable place for me and i will never forget the friends i made and the memories shared. The teachers and faculty were great and our school tradition was rich. Murphy was home. I can't believe that such a permanent fixture in L.A. can be shut down. I hope that some day our school will reopen. To my fellow nobles, never forget the values we learned and our heritage, I will always be proud to be a Murphy Noble.

I know i have the courage of my convictions to publish my full name. Also I have learned to listen to other opinions and judge them for my self and try to lead a reasoned tranquil life. Because for too long I used to just dismiss opposing opinions and views with arrogant disdain. I have grown a little over the years. Having said that the one thing I don't accept is threats veiled or direct. So go with God if you ever get to Alaska look me up. Lewis m. Erhart/ Anchorage,Ak

Finally, clarification. And what about the "history" of the Jewish faith do YOU think or know is most troublesome to them? You know what you can do with your opinion.

Intolerance!!! What do you think their answer would be in regards to history of the Jewish faith. I am of the opinion that you would be tossed for even asking. As for the red bird getting his hands dirty. I think not. From what i have read he didn't have to courage to meet and discuss any options to closing the school. Losing this school is a loss for the church. But the church has been losing touch in the US for a long time. Like the public schools to much "administration" not enough teaching, Our church has lost sight of what made it the institution it was. Bringing families up in the faith!!

I still have some elevator tickets for sale, any takers.

This message is directed at Anthony Aguirre from Class of 1989.

Anthony,

If you read the savedmhs.org website, you'll learn that Denis Muniz (the former principal) DELETED the alumni database. Yes, I said DELETED. He also instructed the web developer to REMOVE all access to the database from the school's website. It was done on purpose. It was no accident. Any anger or animosity you're feeling about the alumni database should be directed toward Denis Munoz. You can reach him at St. Bernard High School. He's over there now preparing that school for closure.

By the way, Anthony, on 6/20/08 you visited the savedmhs.org site and filled out the form to update your contact information. However, you neglected to include your mailing address. If you want to be kept up to date, you might want to provide your full contact information. Our crystal ball is not always working.

Gee you sound bitter. Your were in class with me and must remember that Cavalli farmed out the swats to the lettermens club. He would just count. The fact that you don't have the courage to reveal your identity speaks for itself. by the way my record was 86 swats in 70 until the late great Bobby Henderson broke it with 212 in 71. I found Simonez in the yard after practice. What i remember is the fact the he also taught Islam, Judism, Confucianism, Hindu, which public school teaches any religion now? What would you expect in a catholic school? DUH!!! Go to a madrassa and ask about the jews. Cavalli tested me once. trying to make me tell him who helped me lock Montalbano in the closet with the piano in Bertonis geometry class. Beat me until he knew i wouldn't talk. I got detention every sat washing school bus till school ended. Some people grow some whine. go Nobles Lew Erhart 69

HEY GUYS;

WELL A GREAT CHAPTER MAY CLOSE FOREVER. We at least can keep the memories. Father Cavalli razor strap and rosary coming at you with a smile. Father Lopez fudging the rules to win a 3 on 3 in the gym. Brother Francis showing how Broadway dancing is really done. Father Simonez tossing his butts out the window then making us pick them up at detention. Coach Fitzgerald telling us that "God rests on Sundays we practice". Pagone trying to see the field over the players. Many fine memories and men were molded here. We won our share and lost as many it is sad to lose this one. All we can do is pass on the lessons learned and memories cherished. God bless. Lew Erhart 69
